Rain, Rain go away, I ran all over you today.

So it was pouring rain today, and like all good, normal, fit addicts, I thought: Gee, let’s go run 5km. Now.

So, I did. It was awesome. Some people I knew saw me and cheered me on.

Also, I stopped counting calories today. We went out for lunch and I had a sandwich and salad but then, I bought…an oatmeal cookie. Dun Dun Dunnnn. THEN because I was feeling good and because I wanted one, a mango smoothie. And for a moment I thought : Watch the calories, G. But then I realized that I didn’t give a flying f*ck about how many calories I ate. I was feeling good, healthy and wearing a shirt that had been tight a few weeks ago and that now fit me perfectly (so it was a school shirt. It still counts). So I’m deleting my myfitnesspal account. I’ll eat more than 1200 calories.

MY FRIST 5 KM

OK, so I have run 5 km before. I run 3 every morning and I’m not out of breath. But this Friday, I will be running my first official 5 km. At a race! I’m looking forward to it!!!

I never was the one who loved to run. I was that friend lagging behind, saying “hey, wait up!” But now, now I can run longer than any of my friends. I wake up at 5:30 every morning and go running. I don’t regret it. Every run is a reminder of how far I’ve come, even since last month.

On the down side, this morning was really cold amend during my run, my thigh muscle kind of got hurt. Hopefully ill be able to a stretch it out and be as good as new for the Night Race!

Green Smoothie meal replacement day 5

So I didn’t post a smoothie yesterday. I had one, though.

Same one as day 3 because that’s all I have. Today, I’m going to a party. So smoothie is for lunch. We don’t have any greens in my house ( mom’s getting some today) it’ll be a protein shake…I’m thinking blueberry-raspberry. And whatever else we have in the fridge. I also found a name for this smoothie meal replacement: Smoothie-a-day Project. Not very original and I could have come up with if earlier, but I’ve been busy.

I also just want to share that I ran for 45 minutes this morning. I don’t really calculate distance, but its the longest I’ve ran in a looking time. Legs are killing me. I love it.

Fits me to a ‘tea’

So. I’ve loved black tea for a while (hand me some Twinings Irish Breakfast and I will love you forever),but never had the courage to try chai. Don’t ask why, I just never felt compelled to try it. Until last night when I was dead tired and had a lot do. In my friends ‘tea package’ she had included Twinings French Vanilla Chai. And oh dear sweet Lord. It was love at first sip. Sweet (I don’t add and sugar) and spicy and good. I had to force myself to take a different one this morning.

So I tried another tea this morning. Twinings Prince of Wales tea. An other black team and I swear its just like coffee. It looked like coffee ( I added milk) it tasted like a very diluted coffee and I got all the energy I usually get from coffee.

Fitness-wise, I’m feeling great but a bit disappointed. I weighed myself last night and did not see the number I wanted, nor expected. I know that muscle weighs more than fat, but did I really put on 20 lbs of muscle? Looking in the mirror I don’t look any fatter than I did last time I weighed in. I look skinnyer if anything…

Mar 1

Today so far, Yesterday so long

Yesterday went better than the day before. I cheated, but not as badly as I normally do. Need to drink more water.

So far today:

Plain yogurt :40 calories
Grapes :40 calories
Two of the cookies I made yesterday: 88 calories
Total from breakfast: 171 calories.

I’m going out prom dress looking (like I have the money to buy one now) and having lunch out. Already know what I’ll have and checked the calories. Jugo Juice’s southwest chicken wrap, 499 calories and water. Because there’s a Laura Secord there and I’m bound to get ice cream.

Queen of snacks

Yes, I am a compulsive snacker. I’ll eat any snack food. Anywhere, anytime. Especially of its sweet. So you can imagine my joy when I found a 30 calorie cookie recipe.

3 mashed bananas
2 cups rolled oats (aka quick oats)
1 tsp baking powder
Dash of salt
Dash of cinnamon
1\4 cup apple sauce
2\3 cup almond meal
1 tsp vanilla
1\3 cup shredded coconut (unsweetened)
Chocolate chips or raisins to fit your fancy.

Mash bananas, add vanilla and apple sauce, set aside. Mix oats, cinnamon, baking powder, salt, coconut and almond meal together. Add dry ingredients to wet. Fold in chocolate chips or raisins.

Bake at 350F for 20 minutes, until golden brown.
